History
The Half-Way-Tree Six-A-Side Competition was established out of a
need to foster better relationships between businesses through Sports,
namely football. The League was first played in 1991.
The competition continued with great success through sponsor-ship from
the Jamaica Broilers Group. There was an average participation of Forty
-five (45) teams throughout the year making this competition the largest
of its kind in the Caribbean.
The Competition featured some very talented players who went on to
represent the national team. Some of the players are: Linval Dixon-
Former Captain of the Reggae Boyz, Kevin Lamey, Richard Hoo,
Daniel Shaw, Richard McHaragh, Baris Johnson, Damion Powell and
Garfield Reid. There are also many players from the local Premier
League Division & Major League that participate for their respective
companies.
Our affiliation to K.A.S.A.F.A. required that we change the format of the
competition from Six-A-Side to Five-A-Side inclusive of a goal keeper,
hence the competition name change from Half way Tree Six a Side to
Business House Five-A-Side Football League in 1996.
The competition is divided in Division One & Division Two. Division One
is the Premier Division while Division Two is for new teams or teams that
finished lower than fourth in the previous season.
